Solar Connect's Solar Brokerage Service:
Solar Connect provides an information and bid management service to businesses and homeowners interested in taking advantage of the current government incentives for installing a photovoltaic system or solar hot water. The services outlined below are free to participating businesses. (A small fee may apply to residential owners. Solar Connect receives a standard fee from the selected installing contractor that has no impact on the price of the proposed system.)
How a Photovoltaic (PV) System Works
Solar Connect will provide you and your executive staff an educational session on how solar-electric technology works and why its development is important. Gaining a thorough understanding of the technology is the first step in considering an installation. Solar Connect will make sure all of your questions are answered and your perception is clear.
The State of PV Technology
Over the last ten years, we have seen unprecedented progress in the quality of PV technology along with a steady decline in cost. Our presentation covers the technical reliability, length of warranties, and ease of installation methods that has helped PV technology come of age.
Rebates, Tax Credits, and Local Production Incentives
Our federal, state, and local governments have all concluded that the continued development of solar technology must be supported through aggressive market incentives. Solar Connect will help you understand how a 30% federal tax credit, 5-year accelerated depreciation allowance, a state rebate of approximately half the system cost, and a local production credit of 5 cents per kilowatt/hour (for OUC customers only) can combine to put money in the bank and provide your company with safe, clean, renewable energy. (The above incentives are for Florida businesses. Residential incentives differ.)
Available Financing Options
Solar Connect partners with Clean Power Finance of California to make available to you financing options from several lending institutions throughout the country who have designed specific programs for renewable energy projects. We also provide information on loan programs available from local banks.
Solar Site Analysis and Bid Specifications
To properly estimate the production of your solar system, so that sound financial decisions can be made, Solar Connect conducts a thorough site evaluation that includes roof size, roof orientation, seasonal shading factors, and system component efficiencies. In all, twelve factors are used to estimate your potential solar production. From this evaluation, and in consultation with you, bid specifications will be written for the system that best meets your needs. The specifications will then be sent to four licensed solar contractors in Florida who will submit system cost proposals.
Proposal Comparisons
To assist in the decision-making process, Solar Connect will organize the proposal information in a simple, apples-to-apples comparison chart. We will also confirm that each contractor is properly licensed and fully insured.
Installation Coordination
Solar Connect will continue to guide you through the installation process by assisting with the code inspection schedule, utility interconnection agreement, warranty registrations, and a final system check.
